Antique Charm Necklace | Whitby Jet Faith, Hope & Charity Charms | Romantic Victorian Gothic Black Heart, Cross and Anchor - 26 Inch Chain

Sorry, this item has sold.

Victorian sentimental jewelry is always intriguing and the 'Faith, Hope & Charity' trio is no exception. This Gothic Revival set is from the 1800s and carved from beautiful English Whitby jet.

The wonderfully romantic charms symbolise:
The Cross for Faith
The Anchor for Hope
and the Heart for Charity

+ All the Details

Whitby Jet is a black organic gemstone once mined in the English town of Whitby. It is very surprising to hold as it is extra light, weighing half of what an agate piece of the same size would weigh; no wonder it was prized for the large mourning necklaces popular in the Victorian era.

Size: For reference, the largest charm (the anchor) measures .6 x .8 inches or 15 x 20mm. The total drop from the chain is 1.37 inches or 3.5cm.

Weight: 1.7 grams (without the chain)

The Chain:
The pendant is presented on a new 26 inch or 66cm chain, matte black 'peanut' link, electroplated over brass. Image #4 shows the charms and chain on a life size torso.
The charms are attached to a black split ring - you can add to the trio if desired.

Condition: Excellent. No chips to the jet, minimal surface wear.

Janne's Notes:
Is there any thing as chic as black on black? Timelessly beautiful in this Victorian charm set.
