Antique Whistle | Sterling Silver Whistle | Working Edwardian Chatelaine Silver Whistle, 1902 English Hallmarks - 34 Inch Long Chain Pendant

Sorry, this item has sold.

An intriguing little sterling silver antique whistle from the Edwardian era. The working whistle is smooth and lovely to handle, has beautiful patina and suits a long chain admirably.

The Whistle:
Sterling silver with full set of hallmarks for Birmingham, England and the year 1903. The whistle also carries the maker's mark 'W.A' for English silversmith William Aitken.

Size: .43 x 1.65 inches or 11 x 42mm. The drop from the chain including the large soldered suspension ring and silver fob clip is 70mm. Whistle and chain can be seen on a life size torso in image #4.

Weight: 5.3 grams of silver

Age: 1903 (114 years of age)

The Chain: Presented on a long stainless steel chain 34 inches or 86cm long and 2mm wide. Stainless steel suits the color of antique silver well and is hypoallergenic. Please note: a sterling silver fob clip is included with the chain; this is new, antiqued to match and stamped for sterling.

Condition: Excellent. One shallow dent to the back, mild surface wear as seen in the photos. Lovely patina throughout.
Note: The whistle is working perfectly; the cork 'pea' in the whistle has been replaced with a new one and the sound is amazing!

Janne's Notes:
These antique chatelaine whistles exhibit an amazing sense of history - beautiful worn on a long chain and this piece has a beautiful loud warbling sound.
