An exquisite sterling silver cuff bracelet from the Victorian era, this beauty was expertly made in 1882.
The cuff is hand chased with a delightful paisley-like pattern of scrolls and flourishes. A beaded border to the both edges of the upper half completes the design. The attention to detail is admirable.
+ All the details
The bracelet has full hallmarks for sterling silver, the City of Birmingham, England and the year 1882. Both halves of the bracelet are stamped. The back of the cuff is plain, smooth and lovely to handle. Closure is with a button that depresses an insert tongue which clicks firmly into position.
Bracelet Size:
Will fit a small to average wrist size, the inner circumference is 6.5 inches or 17cm.
Fits a 6 - 6.25 inch wrist perfectly.
Inner diameters: 47 x 60mm (oval, elliptical in shape, designed to fit the wrist perfectly and not turn).
Width: 1 inches or 25mm (not including the beaded edge)
Weight: 31.7gms
Age: 1882 -135 years of age.
Condition:
Excellent. I would evaluate this bracelet as being of museum quality. Very strong, no dings or scratches, perfectly in shape with only a little patina to the silver - the cuff looks as if has been always stored well and has rarely been worn. The hinge is firm and there is no gap whatsoever at the closing edge. Remarkable.
Janne's Observations:
An exquisite cuff bracelet. It is testimony to the expertise of Victorian silversmiths that this exquisite bracelet is still so very wearable.
